Education for a Refugee Family
I have felt helpless about the situation with the Syrian refugees. I decided to see if I could do something productive. Couldn't resist these kids. The Story: We are Zaid (12), Sanad (8), and Nada (3). We left Homs last year due to extreme food scarcity and the violence. Our father injured his leg and is unable to find work. Our mother stays at home to take care of him and our younger sister, Nada. We have never attended school, and have worked odd jobs instead. Often, we sell gum and tissues on street corners to help support our family. Since the Karam Team visited our home last month, we no longer work to support our family and we look forward to starting school. SEPTEMBER 2016 UPDATE: This summer we played a lot at home. Sanad never wanted to go anywhere! That made me sad since I love the park but it’s okay. We are all excited to start school because we want to be successful and lead good lives. We are excited to make friends and to study. We are really excited to learn how to read, especially Zaid. We will not miss the summer because we are so happy to be starting school. How the funds will be used The money raised for this campaign will go to the three children's educations, to cover the costs of tuition, and for living expenses. The cost for each child to attend school and pay for basic needs is $50 a month. To sponsor this family for a year is $2000, which includes fees . The money will be distributed by the Karam Foundation and their trusted aid networks that deliver relief and services in Reyhanli and across Syria. About the Karam Foundation Karam Foundation is a 501(c)3 that is on a mission to build a better future for Syria. Karam seeks to restore the dignity and quality of life for people affected by conflict by eliminating barriers to success through innovative education, entrepreneurial development, and community-driven aid. Support for Abdelaziz’s Education
I have felt helpless about the situation with the Syrian refugees. I decided to see if I could do something productive. Couldn't resist these kids, and the response was so great, I am able to add one more refugee student, Abdelaziz. Help me help pay for his education. The Story: I am from Homs, Syria and I’m 12 years old. My family and I live with our cousins, Aisha, Mahmoud, Esraa, and Douaa, our mother, father, and grandmother in one small apartment. Our father, the primary breadwinner for a family of 13, has not found a stable job as older Syrian men are less likely to be hired for work. Since joining Karam’s sponsorship program, my siblings and I all attend school regularly. How the funds will be used The money raised for this campaign will go to the child’s education, to cover the costs of tuition, and for living expenses. The cost for each child to attend school and pay for basic needs is $50 a month. To sponsor this child for a year is $700, which includes fees . The money will be distributed by the Karam Foundation and their trusted aid networks that deliver relief and services in Reyhanli and across Syria. "... the greatness of this wondrous Age will be manifested as a result of progress in the world of women. For the purpose of advancing civilization, the education of girls is even more essential than that of boys, since mothers, as the first educators of children, have a direct impact on future generations..." The Story: My siblings and I used to work to support our family. Our father, who is still suffering from an injury sustained in Syria, stays at home with our mother. I used to work at a local salon, sweeping the floors from hair clippings. My brothers used to work collecting scrap metal. Physical labor has taken a toll on us. Though we have been displaced for one year, we have not attended school for 4 years because the conflict in Syria prevented us from continuing our education. After joining Karam's sponsorship program, we were able to finally quit our jobs and go back to school. Support Khaled’s Education
The Syrian crisis is the defining challenge of empathy for our newly globally connected generation. In the face of countless atrocities against humanity, the world needs to invest in hope and the potential for better lives for those who have experienced some of the worst the world has to offer. Khaled is not just one of millions of refugees, but one of 7+ billion human beings -- each of us, a reminder that people are worth investing in. In support of Move-ember (because I admittedly can't grow quality facial hair) I'm running half marathons this month and raising awareness/funds for important causes. In a month dedicated to giving thanks, give thanks in a way that lets others give thanks too! For every $10 dollars raised, I will donate a dollar myself to help reach the goal, so make me pay up! Much love. #SpreadEmpathy The Story: My siblings and I used to work to support our family. Our father, who is still suffering from an injury sustained in Syria, stays at home with our mother. Dear Friends and Family, Please help raise money for his future and for the good of our community. We each can play a part in this boy's future and make it better. "Give your hands to serve and your hearts to love" Mother Teresa. The Story: We are from Aleppo but have lived in Reyhanli for two years as refugees. We have not been to school in over two years. Before the Karam Team visited our home in April 2015, I used to work in a gas station. My brother used to work in a mechanic shop. We live with our parents and younger sister in a basement crawl space, which is so unfit for habitation, we don't even pay rent! Our mother does her best to keep the windowless, concrete cell clean and tidy. Our parents were ecstatic that we could quit our jobs and will finally have the chance to attend school once again. We are so happy to be part of the the first group to join Karam's sponsorship program for refugee kids like us who are victims of child labor. SEPTEMBER 2016 UPDATE: This summer, my brother and I both took summer school in order to prepare ourselves for the qualifying exams that we will do this coming year; my older brother Mohamad went to Istanbul on a Scouts field trip and I wish I could have gone. Maybe when I am his age I will be able to go. We are both looking forward to going back to school in order to see our friends, who we missed dearly. Support Mohamad's Education
Hi - This is Amelia (I am using my mom's account) and I am leading a campaign to raise money for a Syrian refugee and I hope you can help. Unlike many kids in Europe and the US, Syrian refugees cannot go to school. Going to school helps these children to escape the hardships of life and have a promise for a better future. Please consider giving any amount that you can to help Mohamad. The Story: We are from Aleppo but have lived in Reyhanli for two years as refugees. We have not been to school in over two years. Support Iman's Education
Dear Family and Friends please join me during this season of Thanksgiving, peace and hope in providing educational funds, food and clothing for a beautiful little girl named Iman who lives in a war torn part of the world. Our donations will be delivered directly by the Karam foundation. Thank you in advance for your generosity. Blessings, peace and hope to each and everyone of you. The Story: We lost our father in 2001 in Aleppo, and in 2014 our home was destroyed by a bomb. When the Karam Foundation Team visited our family in April 2015, we lived in a makeshift, one-room home which was a former storefront. Our house consisted of one high window that let the bare minimum of light and fresh air into the dark space. Our pretty, chirping parakeet was our only source of joy in our home. My older brother and sister worked in order to support our family. Our family is currently living in Reyhanli, a small town on the Syrian-Turkish border where we’ve been displaced for 1.5 years. We left our home in Aleppo where we are from. How the funds will be used The money raised for this campaign will go to the child’s education, to cover the costs of tuition, and for living expenses.
